Jesse & Josh’s Macedon Ranges Wedding

For Jesse and Josh, there was “never any question” they’d get married at Josh’s grandfather’s property in the stunning Macedon Ranges. “Since we started dating, we’ve spent countless weekends up there, exploring the countryside and enjoying time with family. Getting married there was an opportunity to create another incredible memory with family and friends.”

Even though the day “could’ve been a bit warmer”, these guys had a blast on their damn-near-perfect big day (plus, “you can’t control the weather!”, as they say). They called in the talented Madeline Kateto work her magic behind the lens on the big day, found themselves some fire looks (including our faves Gibson and M.J. Balefor the guys) and threw one heck of a party!

THE THEME “There was no defined theme, but we wanted a relatively relaxed, country wedding vibe but with a touch of class. ‘Rustic Chic/Modern Country.’

FAVE DETAILS “The food. Both the doughnut cake from Bistro Morgan and the main feast from Emma James Cateringwere superb. We couldn’t fault them in any way and have agreed that we’ll have to make Bistro Morgan doughnuts an anniversary treat from now on. Also, the people. After the (let’s be honest) horrible year that was 2020, it was incredible to simply have our family and friends in one place again. I don’t think anyone stopped smiling the whole day.”

THE DRESS “The dress was not what I had in mind originally. However, when I first tried it on, I felt pretty special in it. It’s not until you actually get out there and try different styles on until you figure out what suits your shape, height, etc. Once I was at Amaline Vitale, the designer was so helpful and her fabric felt so divine on my skin (I was going for look AND comfort). The dress was actually straight off the rack – a one-off she made as a sample. I had her alter it for me pretty quickly and it fit like a glove on the day. The feathers along the end of the train were such a cool touch and I loved how different it was in contrast to the simple front of the dress.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “I [Josh] have played the piano pretty much my whole life and tried my hand at writing songs a couple of times but usually this just involved covering famous songs and re-writing the lyrics for a work or Uni project, or a friend’s birthday. The wedding was the prime opportunity to try my hand at composing a song from scratch and I was incredibly happy with the way it turned out. Don’t think there was a dry eye in the house when I performed it and we’ve now got a song that will help us remember the day for the rest of our lives together.”

A WORD OF ADVICE… “Don’t overthink or overcomplicate it. If you find a vendor you like, book them. Like that dress/suit? Buy it. At the end of the day your wedding SHOULD be the best day of your life and the more you try and perfect every little thing, the less time you have to actually appreciate the day. We loved every minute of the day and that was in no small part due to the fact that we didn’t stress the small stuff and had all our ducks in a row so we could just sit back and enjoy things.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “I’m glad we booked Madeline Kate, our photographer. She was perfect and made a very cold evening such a breeze to do a photoshoot in. She was just the bomb. The photos speak for themselves. Emma James Catering – incredible food and the kitchen was left cleaner than we started.”

Head on over to our directory to get in touch with some of the phenom vendors Jesse and Josh brought on board for their big day. We can’t get enough of Madeline Kate‘s amazing piccies, not to mention guys’ gear from M.J. Bale and Gibson Clothing.
